Joshua Rinas

Supply Pastor

The Rev. Joshua D. Rinas has been an ELCA pastor since 2008. He received a bachelor’s degree in psychology and religion from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota and a Master’s of Divinity from Yale Divinity School. He has twice held fellowships with the Fund for Theological Exploration. Ordained in the New England Synod, he has served congregations in Connecticut, Michigan, and as a port-chaplain in NY/NJ. He remains on the board of Directors for Seafarers International House in New York City.

He is married to Rev. Kari Rinas, pastor of St. Thomas Lutheran, Grosse Ile. Together, they have two children, Lyanna, age 4, and Caleb, nearly 7, and live in Brownstown, MI.

Rinas has special interests in Christian community development and stewardship and has continued studies in these areas. He loves studying scripture and teaching Biblical interpretation.

Previously, Rinas was an avid outdoorsman, but is now a snack concierge, amateur chauffeur, and play coordinator with a penchant for DIY, technology, and home automation.
